About The Course

The APMG International Programme and Project Sponsorship (PPS™) course equips managers with the knowledge and understanding of the skills required to successfully lead initiatives or delivery of policies and/or strategies. PPS is based on Best Management Practice guidance such as PRINCE2® and MSP® and combines leadership ability with PPM skills.

In today’s modern world, organisations are continually changing, reviewing and updating their capabilities. Implementing new strategies and initiatives will typically be delivered by targeted programmes and/or projects. These programmes and projects require a champion and sponsor to be accountable for successful delivery.

The accredited PPS™ e-learning course enables you to develop the full spectrum of skills needed to be an effective sponsor and fully prepares you for the examination. It is broken into bite-size sessions, combining leading-edge multimedia and interactive exercises for optimum enjoyment and knowledge retention. The PPS course will enable you to gain a clear understanding of what is required of the Programme and Project Sponsor. Not only does it address the key question, ‘what should I be doing?’, but also ‘what is an appropriate level of my involvement?’, and ‘what should others be doing for me?’.

The certification is aimed at current and aspiring senior managers who sponsor programmes and projects (Sponsors); also known as Senior Responsible Owners (SROs)/Project Executives. These are typically at management or senior level in their organizations that often have responsibility for several programmes or projects.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to start the Programme and Project Sponsorship (PPS™) course, however, it is assumed that candidates are familiar with the Cabinet Office (formally OGC) Best Practice programme and/or project management leadership techniques such as PRINCE2® and MSP®.
